Microsoft officially announced Windows 11, the new version of the system that will replace Windows 10 at the end of 2021. One of the most outstanding novelties is the integration of mobile applications, and that is that from now on, Windows will allow the download and installation of Android applications natively.
All this with a more modern design, and a start menu quite different from what you know. Some will say that it is very reminiscent of the macOS dock, which will undoubtedly give a lot to talk about.
Windows 11: Installation Requirements
The truth is that the release of Windows 11 has caught everyone by surprise since no one expected an announcement of this caliber so soon. If you are intrigued and want to know if your PC will be able to support the new version of Windows that will arrive at the end of the year, Microsoft has already made public the minimum requirements you need to install it:
- A 64-bit processor compatible with 2 or more cores of at least 1GHz.
- At least 4GB of RAM.
- 64GB of internal storage space.
- DirectX 12 or later compatible graphics card and WDDM 2.0 driver.
- Monitor of at least 9 inches, with resolution at 720p and 8-bit channel.
- A board with UEFI firmware and compatible with Secure Boot.
- A TPM 2.0 module, which since 2016 is mandatory for the hardware of any Windows computer.
- Have a Microsoft account and Internet connection for initial configuration and system update.
Therefore, the new version of Windows definitely abandons 32 bits and will require at least 4GB of RAM, which would rule out its installation on older PCs. An idea that is reinforced by the need to have a TPM 2.0 chip for cryptographic processing to increase the security of the equipment. This is not so common in older computers.
Check if your PC is compatible with this free tool
You can find out if your PC or laptop uses TPM 2.0 technology by typing “tpm.msc” in the search box on the Windows start bar. This will allow you to open the secure platform module of your team.
If the “Status” panel indicates that TPM is “ready to use,” it means that you meet this minimum security requirement.
Anyway, if you want to check if the PC meets all the minimum requirements, you have to install Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool. It is a free application that you can download from THIS direct LINK from Microsoft or from the Windows 11 presentation page itself.
After installing the verification program, click on “Check now” on the Windows 11 presentation card. In a matter of seconds, you will see a message on the screen indicating whether or not your PC meets the requirements indicated above.
