How to Save Mobile Data When Using Twitter Away from Wi-Fi

Twitter is one of the most popular opinion social networks. Since its inception, it has been evolving and now there are many more functions that it includes and therefore the cost of mobile data is much higher than it was in its beginnings. Here’s how to save mobile data on Twitter.

Save mobile data on Twitter

This social network was characterized by the brevity of its messages. Its well-known tweets could not initially exceed 140 characters, so synthesizing ideas was key. Over time it has been incorporating threads that allow further development of ideas by chaining tweets. In addition, the limit has been extended to 280 characters. But this is not the reason why the cost of mobile data has increased considerably when we use Twitter.

This is due to the incorporation of images and videos. As a general rule, videos are played automatically regardless of whether or not you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. This has caused the cost of mobile data to grow considerably. But there is a way to save mobile data using a configuration setting. Follow the steps to activate it.

  • Open Twitter and access the configuration options.
  • To access the configuration options, click on the icon with the three horizontal stripes in the upper left corner.
  • Select “settings and privacy” found at the bottom of the menu.
  • In the general section, click on the option “data use”
  • We enter the “data saver” option.
  • Check the data saver box to activate it.

When doing so, the videos will not be produced automatically. You will have to click on each of the videos that interest you to play them. With which you achieve considerable data savings if you are active on a Wifi network. In addition to this, the quality of the images displayed is lower.

Other Configuration Options

If you don’t want to make such a drastic adjustment, you can use the rest of the configuration options available after deactivating data saving. Among these, images and videos are in two categories. In the images, you can select when you want high-quality images shown, being able to choose between with Wifi, mobile data, or never. And in the same way, you can limit the use of data when you upload high-quality images to the network. In the video section, you will find the same options.

Also among the data saving options, we find the option “data synchronization”. This setting allows Twitter to update and synchronize its content in the background or not. Therefore, by establishing synchronization intervals depending on the use we make of the social network, we can save a good amount of data from our mobile rate. In this way, the network will be synchronized at the times that we indicate and that may also coincide with the fact that we are connected to a Wi-Fi network.
