How to Turn Off Chrome Notifications

Do you use Google Chrome and are you tired of constantly receiving notifications from social networks, sites, email accounts, etc.? Well, the simplest thing is to turn off Chrome notifications . Don’t know how to do it? No fear! In this article I will explain everything step by step.

Regardless of the operating system you use, you can choose to turn off these notifications or disable only those you deem useless. To do this, just access the Web Browser settings and in a few clicks you will be able to solve this small but annoying problem.

How to turn off Google Chrome notifications

The following procedure is valid for both Windows and macOS and allows you to disable one or more Chrome notifications in a few clicks. Here’s all you need to do:

  • Start Google Chrome;
  • From the main window, click on the three vertical dots at the top right;
  • Click on the item “Settings” ;
  • Scroll down the page, locate the “Site Settings” item and click on it;
  • Click on the item “Notifications” ;
  • From the “Allow” list , locate the link of the site for which you want to disable notifications, then click on the three points corresponding to the link in question;
  • Click on the “Remove” item .

From this moment on, you will no longer receive notifications from the removed site. However, every time you open the page of the removed site a warning will appear asking you if you want to activate notifications again or not. To avoid this, click on the “Add” button next to “Block” , type the site address, then click “Add” .

You can also completely disable the requests for notifications from the websites you visit, to do so, simply deactivate the switch next to the item “Sites can ask to send notifications.”

Disable Google Chrome notifications from Windows 10

As mentioned above, you can turn off Chrome notifications from Windows settings as well. Here’s how:

  • Click on the Start button;
  • Click on the “Settings” icon , the gear-shaped one in the Start menu;
  • Locate and click on the “System” icon ;
  • From the left sidebar, select the item “Notifications and actions” ;
  • From the “Get notifications from these senders” section. Locate Google Chrome;
  • Disable the switch next to “Google Chrome” .

This way you will no longer receive any notifications or alerts from Google Chrome. If, on the other hand, you wish to change only some behavior of the notifications, click on the “Google Chrome” icon and change the settings as you prefer.

Disable Google Chrome notifications from macOS

As for Windows, even on macOS it is possible to disable Google Chrome notifications by acting on the system settings, here’s how:

  • Click on the apple icon in the top left of the menu bar;
  • Select the item “System Preferences”;
  • Click on the item “Notifications” ;
  • In the window that opens, locate the “Google Chrome” item from the left sidebar and select it;
  • Disable the switch next to “Allow notifications from Google Chrome “.

If you do not want to completely disable notifications, you can change the behavior of the latter by acting on the settings on the same page.
