5 Good Reasons to Switch Your Smartphone to Airplane Mode

Airplane mode is a handy feature that isn’t just for air travel! Switching to airplane mode means giving up the connectivity of your phone for a few moments, and getting out of its grip. We give you 5 good reasons to let go!

What is airplane mode?

Airplane mode is a configuration that cuts all network connections while leaving free access to applications and functions that do not need to be connected. Airplane mode disconnects:

  • The telephone network (you cannot make or receive calls or SMS)
  • 3G, 4G, 5G, WiFi (no internet or network connection)
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth connections

The advantage of airplane mode is to not have to turn off your smartphone in places where it is necessary, and thus continue to take advantage of certain features such as offline applications, multimedia playback, the camera, the clock, its functions, etc.benefits of airplane mode

Why enable airplane mode?

You don’t need to be on a plane to activate airplane mode! In everyday life, this option can be very useful if you want to:

  • Save battery. If your battery is low and you have to hold on for a while before you can recharge it, airplane mode will in particular prevent a continuous search for the network, which is particularly energy-intensive. The GPS, in particular, is very energy-intensive; its deactivation will therefore logically increase your autonomy.
  • Recharge your battery faster. Have you found a charging point for your battery, but time is running out? Activate airplane mode for faster charging since the smartphone will not spend energy searching for the network during charging. All inbound and outbound interactions consume power. Disabling them will reduce the time needed for a full charge
  • Do not be disturbed while sleeping. You use your smartphone as an alarm clock, but you don’t want to be disturbed by a call during your night? Airplane mode is required. You no longer risk being disturbed in the middle of the night by a member of your family residing thousands of kilometers away and who would have zapped the jet lag (yes, it’s been experienced!).
  • Work calmly. It is very practical to be reachable in all circumstances, but it is also not bad to work without being disturbed sometimes. Airplane mode preserves your peace of mind without forcing you to turn off your smartphone. In airplane mode, you can take photos or film with your smartphone without your attention being monopolized by a message or email notification.
  • Adapt to places where network connections are prohibited. Airplane mode allows you to continue enjoying your apps without disturbing your surroundings.
