Brief Overview of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Series

It’s done! Samsung has officially unveiled the next generation of Galaxy S series smartphones. All three devices received a slightly updated design and some technical improvements. So, what does the Galaxy S22 trio have to offer to its fans?

Cameras

As you know, Samsung pays special attention to night shooting. It’s for this reason that the Galaxy S22 and S22+ feature a new 50MP sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. In addition, Chinese engineers have thoroughly worked on artificial intelligence algorithms.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra uses a 108MP sensor as the main camera. If we’re not mistaken, nothing has changed here. The other three lenses are an ultra-wide-angle sensor (12MP) and two 10MP telephoto lenses. The difference between the latter is only in the optical magnification (3x and 10x). The S22 Ultra has a 40MP selfie camera on the front, while the Galaxy S22 and S22+ have 10MP sensors.

Other camera features:

  • RAW photos up to 16-bit and Expert RAW app from the Galaxy Store;
  • Mode “Auto Framing” (recognition of people) when shooting video, a maximum of 10 people;
  • 12-bit HDR in videos;
  • The main sensor with a “low-reflective” lens.

Design

The design differences from its predecessor are clearly visible on the back of all three devices. While the contours of the Galaxy S22 and S22+ look smoother, the S22 Ultra has become more angular and similar to the Galaxy Note series. Its top and bottom faces are completely flat and do not have the slightest hint of rounded corners.

And it does not have a block of cameras – now all the lenses “stand” one by one. In addition, all three smartphones are once again housed in a Gorilla Glass Victus+ sandwich and are IP68 dust and water-resistant. Thus, they are not afraid of diving into freshwater to a depth of one and a half meters for 30 minutes.Samsung Galaxy S22 features

Equipment

The new “engine” of the Galaxy S22 series (European version) is an octa-core Exynos 2200 (4nm) processor with an integrated Xclipse graphics chip, which is based on AMD RDNA2. In the US, for example, Samsung will supply smartphones with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.

Also, the Galaxy S22 and S22 + are equipped with a set of 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of user memory. The S22 Ultra version looks more attractive in this regard: 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, and 12/1 TB. At the same time, storage expansion with microSD cards is not provided on any model.

Battery

The Galaxy S22’s 3,700mAh battery can charge at a rate of 25W. The S22+ fared much better with 4500mAh and 45W, respectively. The S22 Ultra’s 5000mAh battery can also be charged with a 45W adapter, but you’ll have to buy that separately. All three smartphones are compatible with wireless chargers up to 15W.

Display

As always, Samsung does not save on displays: all three are equipped with chic OLED panels. The Galaxy S22/S22+ (6.1″ and 6.6″) have Dynamic AMOLED FullHD+ with a refresh rate of 10-120Hz, while the S22 Ultra has the same screen but with QHD (6.8″) resolution, rounded edges, and adaptive frequency from 1-120 Hz.

Their brightness also varies: 1300 nits for the Galaxy S22 and 1750 nits for the Plus and Ultra versions.

Cost and delivery time

This latest Samsung series can be pre-ordered until February 24, 2022, with shipments starting the next day on the 25th. Galaxy Buds Pro in-ear headphones are also included. The minimum cost of the cheapest version of the Galaxy S22 is $799. Prices for the Galaxy S22+ start at $999, while those for the Galaxy S22 Ultra start at $1,199.
