How to Enable the Built-In VPN in iPhone and macOS

Not everyone knows that iPhone and macOS have a completely free VPN system specially developed by the Apple team. It may not offer the same functionality paid apps can provide, but it does its job well. This is an excellent option for people who care about their privacy and are not ready to pay money for it.

When this option is activated, Apple hides the user’s IP address and encrypts data while browsing the Internet on Safari. As a result, neither advertisers nor other interested parties can determine who visited the site since there are no corresponding entries in the history of visits.

Enabling VPN on iPhone is very simple:

  • Open the “Settings” application;
  • Touch your name at the top;
  • Go to the iCloud panel;
  • Select “Private Relay.”

Now you need to switch the toggle switch near the specified section so that it turns green. On the “IP Address Location” panel, you can select any location from whose IP address it will be convenient to visit the sites of interest to you. It should be noted that this system only applies to Safari – other browsers installed on the iPhone do not yet have similar functionality.

As a reminder, the new iOS 16.2 is now available for download. It comes with several very exciting features, including:

  • Freeform apps,
  • Apple Music Sing,
  • Updated iCloud,
  • An optimized lock screen, and more.
