At the recent event, Apple presented Mac Studio, alongside Display Studio. The former is a mix of Mac mini and Mac Pro, while the latter is Apple’s new standalone display. That’s what it is.
Mac Studio takes the form of a slightly plumper Mac mini, taller in height. It has a square base of 7.7 inches by 3.7 inches in height. Inside, two very large fans sucking air from underneath, with the base raised, pass over the Apple chip and then vanish through a rear exit where the exit holes and connectivity ports are. Speaking of connectivity, it has an SD card slot and two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the front. Half of the interior is occupied by the thermal system to keep the system cool during heavy loads.
On the back of his device are four more Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10 Gbps Ethernet port, two USB Type-A ports, an HDMI port, and a “pro” audio jack port.
The Mac Studio will be available in different versions, based both on the previous M1 Max which equips the more powerful versions of MacBook Pro 2021, and with the new and very powerful M1 Ultra chip, the most powerful processor ever produced by Apple that outclasses that of Mac in terms of performance. Pro.
It will start in configuration with the M1 Max, expecting GPU performance 3.4 times faster than the Radeon Pro W5700X in the Mac Pro. Also, you can expect a 90% increase in processing performance over the 16-core Mac Pro.
If you maximize the existing Mac Pro, the M1 Ultra should be 80% faster than the fastest Mac Pro. And it supports up to 128GB of memory. The M1 Max is limited to 64GB of memory.
Memory
Mac Studio offers 64 GB of unified memory and with Ultra you get to 128 GB. Still, inside there is a 7.4 Gbs SSD up to 8 TB of capacity.
